Has anyone ever tried using an IBM Optical USB ScrollPoint mouse in OS X?
I used to have an older PS/2 model on my old PC that could scroll both horizontally and vertically by nudging a little "pointing stick" that was placed where a normal scroll wheel would be. It scrolled quickly and required little finger movement. Apple's unveiling of the Mighty Mouse reminded me of how much I missed the pointing stick, and I am curious as to whether the pointing stick in the newer ScrollPoint mouse works under OS X at all.

The only thing I can think of is the shift-scrolling... That's how I side-scroll with my MS IntelliMouse Explorer.

Yeah, Shift-scrolling works with most, if not all mice with a scroll wheel.

I finally got my hands on the "pro" (ergonomic) version of this mouse, and the little scroll nub works on OS X without any drivers /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It only requires the slightest nudge to make it scroll in one particular direction. It even scrolls side-to-side without using the Shift key, though for some reason left/right scrolling is reversed (but I imagine that something like USB Overdrive would be able to fix that).
