Some confusion here?
Isn't this the update which appeared a couple of weeks ago, -R2?
I downloaded this last night and got the error that the updater couldn't find a 'valid Quicken 2006' to update?
???

I just spent 15 minutes with an Intuit rep (online chat) who assured me that R2 is the latest release.
But it's hard to believe that MacNN has also got it wrong.

I installed the update a couple weeks ago, the "About" tells me it's version R2.
Probably Intuit only now got around to sending out the press release.
The updater is typical Intuit cluelessness. Download a .bin file that you have to manually unpack to get a .dmg file.
Finding the R2 version yields the "Can't find a valid version of Quicken" message, rather than a message that describes what is really happening.
The error message tells me that the updater will quit, but it doesn't.
Do they do any testing at all?

And just to complicate things (or was Tuesday's announcement a Pat Robertson-like hint of something perhaps to come?) Intuit did apparently today issue an R3 update!

Yes, but that R3 is an update to Quicken 2005.

I'm so sorry; you're right. Guess it's one step forward and two back. Thanks.

But now they really have released a 2006 R3 update, it seems. Maybe this was what was meant all along?
