A much better free option is Genius. The way that it helps you memorize is incredibly effective.

iFlash has pretty much every feature of Genius plus many, many more. It offers more card options, more testing methods (including one that is basically the same as Genius'), more customizability... Genius may be cheaper, but I think it's quite a stretch to call it "much better."

Has anyone tried these out with an Asian language? I'd love if I could make up some japanese flashcards..

sigma8, as of right now (just checked /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif), the iFlash Deck library contains 35 user-submitted Japanese Card Decks. The largest has over 8000 cards! I see Katakana and Hiragana, as well as vocab, Kanji, and many others. You can download these Decks for free.

I love iFlash! I found it this past June while attending a month long (and away from home) course, a course that was as boring and complex as it was long. iFlash saved the day for my four tests by helping me learn the material I thought I knew and helping me learn the stuff I really had no clue on. I've already got other friends using it /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'd like to thank the iflash developers. This program has been a life saver for me while I've been in dental school. A fellow student told me about it and since then I've been using it every day. Several other classmates bought macs just to use the iflash program, it's a switch worthy app for students. The sharing feature is spectacular. We are able to share cards from different classes instantly online. Also the ability to put images on the cards has made histology a breeze. It's incredible.

I am a huge fan of Genius flash cards so I wanted to put a word in here for them. I have been a tutor for fifteen years and these cards work better than iFlash for my students who have a tough time focusing on learning boring material. What sets Genius apart from other programs is that you have to type in your answers, whereas other flash card programs are just flip -flip-flip. Having to actually type the answer drills it into your mind which really comes in handy on the test!
Three cheers for Genius!

A very belated thank you for this review. I notice iFlash is now on version 2.7. Not a particularly fast rate of development but it seems they had to spend some time ensuring compatibility with Leopard. And I guess if it was a great program when you wrote the review, it's still a great program now!
