i'm looking into getting a war type game like call of duty or medal of honor. I'm new to the mac gaming world and am wondering what is recommended? or what is the best type of mac game in the war genre!
thanks

We gave it a first look in June 2004 and gave it a 4.5 mouse rating in August.
Call of Duty is great if you like World War II-themed first person shooters. For something more modern I'd look at Close Combat: First to Fight. For online-only play, you can consider America's Army, which is free, thanks to the U.S. Army.

Dear Peter,
thanks for the response, and I enjoyed reading your reviews on macworld. Can my G4 1.2ghz handle call of duty and your other recommendations well? I noticed on the box it says G4/G5.. but does that really mean they're really optimized for the G5, and a G4 is the min. requirement?

There's no functional difference between the G4 and G5 when it comes to game code optimization -- it's just a question of higher clock speed and system architecture difference when it comes to the G5, which yields better performance in games.
System requirements are usually a pretty conservative measure. If your system meets the specs, it should be able to play the game well.
