iDVD Error 34506

I created a movie in iDVD 5 using about 90 or so still pixs from my iPhoto library.
I clicked on the Open iDVD tab and chose a theme, proceeded to burn.
Got all the way to the end...encoded audio....then I get an error msg:
Burning finished
Errors were found during the burning process
When I clicked the disclosure triangle I saw the following:
The error #-34506 was reported.....
After I clicked "OK" a brief "Multiplex" error msg popped up, then was gone.
After all that iDVD was alive but just hung??
I've burned dozens of movies I created..no problems??
Repair permissions, used a different iDVD theme, saved the movie as self-contained, then pulled into iDVD...nothing works..I still get the same error msg??
Has anyone else seen this error?? Better yet, has anyone seen this error and come up with a fix??
Thanks for any help...

I just got exactly the same error last night when trying to burn a project. Working on it now to try to resolve but expect it to take some time. Did you manage to fix the issue and if so how?
Currently attempting to burn another project which worked fine 2 days ago to determine if the issue is project specific or related to idvd in general. Pain in the arse how these things happen when deadlines loom! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Wait a minute, the disc has appartently burned and just popped out the drive with no error messages coming up. Must be a problem with the project itself and not iDVD in general. Away to see if the disc runs on the player.
Al
The disc appears to be running fine at the moment. Think I'll try rebuilding the other, problem project as a new file in idvd and see what happens.

Rebuilt the original problem project as a new idvd project and unfortunately got the same error message as before. I reckon now that the problem must be with the video files I'm trying to write. As one of these has been newly added I'll delete and see if the other burns.

I did all the things you did.
My project was just still photos...no video.....I tried taking out suspect photos, rebuilding the titles, changing the music...nothing has worked.
I can burn any other project I try and do...except this one.
I used iMovie to export as a Quicktime movie which I can them burn on a DVD, but that isn't what I wanted.
I know it's this project rather than iDVD since iDVD will burn other stuff...
..but I can't figure out what is wrong???? Too many photos? Should not matter since this isn't a slideshow in the normal sense....

I've been checking through other forums on this one too and it seems to have no definite solution. I did however get my disk to burn eventually by deleting the idvd prefs file. Was recommended on another forum but doesn't always work apparently. Its a pain as you've probably already tried this as well. The file to delete is
com.apple.iDVD.plist
Fingers crossed...

I can't thank you enough!!
After spending countless hours trying to get this DVD to burn...I deleted the Com.Plist file you mentioned in your other post and BANG...the dvd encoded and burned with no problem!!
Thank you VERY much....
You CAN teach an old dog new tricks after all.....

Oh boy, I finally found some mention of the problem - if dumping the prefs works for me I love the world - spent all last night trying to pin down which part of which movie(s) caused the problem ... previously spent ages compiling a DVD of various "Tours of Ireland" which I'd been handing to friends as sVCD - had no idea that iDVD was so flexible (expected rigid template stuff) then several hours of encoding and kablooey the error ... nearest I can find to the feeling (at least on a puter) was about 15 years ago, when an Ancient Multi-Hued Dragon creamed my beloved character in an RPG called Moria - which is more than you wanted to know.
Nearest other comment I found was an Apple one concerning error -34502 which they say can happen (at the same juncture) if you have buttons lapping out of the TV-Safe area, in iDVD 6 at least.
Anyhow, if it works, my belated wishes in advance (get your head round that one) to all on this thread for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :-)

I feel your frustation..I know it well /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
I hope it works for you like it worked for me...gotta tell you though, it's the ONLY problem I've had in several years of creating DVDs...so I guess I can't complain...but did anyway. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Let us know if it worked...

Sigh, no - some of the "fixes which sometimes work" perhaps suggest the problem lies with iMovie writing something which chokes iDVD - dunno, just seems that way - half-wonder if the successes with trashing prefs are because folk have implicitly reverted to 'Best Performance' ... my videos worked fine on 'Best Performance' but then a DVD is no longer 4-odd GB, just a slightly bloated CD.
Toast 7 is well able to handle the same iMovies and use the whole surface of a DVD, but with less inspiring menu possibilities - maybe not such a bad thing !
Apple know damn well about the problem, but have issued no bugfix - hint to why is on other forums where folk are saying "will try iLife 06" or "will try the pro apps" ... makes commercial sense, but is wrong - clearly a bug rather than a missing feature, we have got apps (bought explicitly or bundled, no difference) which are broken - the vendors should fix them, even after they've issued paid upgrades ... Microsoft similarly ignored a career-busting bug through major releases of Word - if it only affects a few percent of users who push the app, they have a responsibility to shareholders to aim developers at swish new features, is sad - try telling the boss "my report of three years work is visible on my screen, but can't be saved or printed" !
One fun thing I did find - if you are saving as disc image, is possible to just ignore the green-amber-red indicator in Toast and pile assets in until, say 10GB or more - then burn the image (encoding takes a while !) ... can then use e.g. DVDremaster to shrink the VIDEO_TS down to 4400MB and stick that back into toast for burning as DVD-ROM - the loss of quality isn't so dreadful, and voila - six hours of video :-)
