I am a long time mac user and a new found Photography lover. I am in the process of purchasing a new computer and I want to be able to process my photos quickly. I am esspecisally interested on photoshop and which computer it works better on. I don't want to go out and but a $800 program that won't work well on my computer. So does anyone know which computer would be better for photographic editing (especialy with regards to photoshop).
Or what do you think the ultimate photo processing machine would be?

I am new to Mac's, but I can tell you right off the bat, Photoshop is going to work best with a Powerbook, because it will run natively. It will be some time until it is converted to Universal, and therefore will have to use Rosetta emulation to run it on the Macbook.
So bottom line, if you need the computer right now, and require fastest possible processing speed for Photoshop right now, go with the Powerbook. Keep in mind there is no longer a 15" PB though.
Hope this helps, especially since this is my first post.

Vtechu has outlined it well: if you MUST purchase your machine and photoshop now, and if you are going to spend a lot of time using photoshop, strongly consider getting a G5 or G4 machine rather than a Core Duo machine, since Adobe hasn't released its Universal Binary yet.
But be cautious...signs suggest that when Adobe DOES release its Universal Binary it won't be a free or marginal upgrade to existing users...it'll be a full-on new release and you'll pay full price (or upgrade price if you're an existing user). So if money is an issue, then you'll have to consider which is more important to you:
--Is the software more important? Then you should purchase a G5 or G4 Mac, so you can buy the software now and know it will run (and later, if you upgrade to the Universal Binary version, it will STILL run natively).
--Is the hardware more important? If you know you're going to want the latest and greatest processor, that would seem to be the Core Duo. But prepare to run Photoshop comparatively slowly on it until Adobe releases their next version (and you're ready to spend the money on it).
Good luck!
