Is there a mic for the iPod that will also record live music decently? As a professional flutist and teacher, it would really be great to use my ipod doing some music recording. I would really appreciate any advice, as the ones all seem to be mainly for voice recording.

iPods prior to the 5G (video) model can only record 8-bit mono recordings. The 5G can record 16-bit stereo (at CD-quality 44.1kHz), which is probably what you want. The XtremeMac product mentioned, or Belkin's upcoming TuneTalk, are the only voice recorders that I know of for the 5G iPod. I think both will let you plug in a 1/8" mike as well, and I'd say you probably want to get a mike to plug in instead of using the built-in one (and I'm not sure what minijack mikes there are out there).

I already have an iPod. It is a 40 gig over a year old; no video. Guess that let's me out using it to record music; might try anyway.

I've got the Ipod Classic 120 GB. I want to record some lessons I'm having (singing) so I want a good microphone. Can you tell me which is the best (it appears the one Mac has for 79.95 is discontinued at Best Buy). Is there one you'd recommend. My Ipod has video.
