Once the first Intel-based Macs finally arrived, we immediately set about answering as many of your questions as we could. Those answers, published in the March issue, satisfied many. But for a few of you, they only raised more questions. more

I fail to see how accessing lyrics online is financially hurting music publishers or the composers. Few people will want to look at the lyrics for purposes other than understanding the lyrics to a song they listen to but can't understand. Perhaps they heard the song on the radio, or the CD sleeve doesn't include the lyrics, or they purchased the song of the iTunes store which doesn't include lyrics. Would downloading lyrics preclude a purchase? Because I know the lyrics will I be satisfied to simply sing the song out loud? Certainly I'm not going to buy a CD just to have the lyrics.
Music publishers and composers lose nothing. The issue is that sites are making money off their copyrighted material. If the record labels want to fight this fight, they'd better throw users a bone by providing the lyrics themselves.
