Yeah, and there is a divx player but it seems to be windows only. Funny thing is my Mac has been playing Divx through QT forever because of the Divx codec. Why does it say this is the first time? I'm missing something. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Because there's a difference between the "DivX Player" -- discrete software that runs DivX files, providing additional features and functionality -- and the "DivX codec," which merely works using QuickTime Player and QuickTime enabled applications.

Is there a benefit to using the DivX Player over QT with the codec (besides the dimming feature, etc. that was mentioned in the article)? Better quality?

This part of the EULA bugs me a bit:
"SOFTWARE INSTALLATION: Components bundled with our software may report to
Licensor and/or its affiliates the installation status of certain marketing
offers, such as toolbars, and also generalized installation information, such as
language preference and operating system version, to assist Licensor in its
product development. No personal information will be communicated to
DivX or its affiliates during this process. Licensor may in the future
offer additional components (such as a toolbar) through our version
checking/update system."
Does this mean there could be adware or spyware installed with the package? Or is this more of what companies like Roxio could do since they bundle DivX with Toast?
Regards,
