You can also save your favorite settings for the Waveform, Color, and Configuration. When you have the settings you want displayed in the visualizer, press shift-# (where # is one of the number keys). You can then select one of your favorite settings at any time the visualizer is running by pressing the corresponding number key. That is, until it cycles to the next random setting.
Additionally, whatever you have saved for the number 1 setting becomes the first setting that the visualizer uses when it starts up.
There is a way to make the visualizer freeze on the current setting, but I forgot how to do that (I figured this stuff out on curiosity one day). Guess I'll have to poke around in iTunes later...

There is a pretty nifty visualizer plugin available which uses the keyboard backlight of many Apple laptops as an iTunes Visualizer. It is not perfect but having your keyboard lights pulsate with the music in any way is still way cool. I wrote about it in my blog if anybody wants to try it out.
PS When I say available, someone quickly coded it together and put it as a free download on their personal site but if people think it is cool I imagine someone will improve it.
