I have a 5G 60 gig video ipod, and I sometimes have trouble getting it to turn off. I can hold down the play/pause button and nothing happens, whereas usually it will successfully shut down the unit, conserving power better. There seems to be no explanation for when this glitch occurs versus not.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, is there a fix?

You just can't stop the beat!
(Sorry, I'm of no help. I just couldn't resist.)
Seriously though, would there be an issue with the hold switch not being turned all the way off? Somtimes if the hold switch just slightly over or something? I don't know, I have an original 10 Gig iPod, and sometimes that happens to me, but the newer ones may not have the same issues.

I get this problem sometimes on my ipod nano, but for some reason it usually turns off "better" when i am on the main screen. Sometimes, after i have turned off my ipod, i turn it on later, only to see that the battery has been drained...

On my 3rd Gen iPod, I can stick a "Sleep" item on the main menu, and that'll turn it off.
