Hi all, first post. I tried loading Windows Live Messenger on my Intel 20" iMac and when trying to login I get BSOD then it just shuts down. Anyone have a similar problem?

Nope, worked fine for me.
But I assure you, I only installed it as an experiment. After I finished my experiment, I promptly uninstalled it.
Why? Because "Windows Live Messenger" a.k.a. MSN messenger is and always has been one of the crappiest and evilest pieces of software known to man.
In my opinion, it rivals the evilness of AOL software of yore.
Anyway... If you must communicate with MSN/live whatsit, I suggest you find some third party software that supports it... like... Adium, which you can run right in OS X. No boot camp needed!
And if you're paranoid of third party software for some reason, then... well... try it again.
