We begin a three-day weekend enthralled by a ridiculously cute cat photo and wondering just what it is about cats and Macs. [more]

Yep, my cats love our Macs. The red tabby likes to "dance" on my PowerBook and they both like to lay across the keyboard of the iMac. One of them even managed to rename the hard drive once. It became "Friskies!"... think that was a demand? /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
(just kidding, it was renamed to something like gvsbfehjkl;s)

When I had a B&W G3 with a power button on the keyboard, my cat used to turn it on during the night. Many times I was awaken by the Mac's startup chime.

I agree, that is a good one. My cat, Tuxedo, has been banished to the outside, so no pictures from this user.

I'm usually too busy yelling and waving the cats off the computer to get photos.

Back about 1986 or so, when my main machine was a Lisa (half the time it ran the Mac OS as a MacXL), I had my best cat incident. The Lisa was a large and heavy monolithic box, with a warm, large, flat (though slightly tilted) top. My older cat would curl up and sleep while I worked on my AI dissertation. One evening he sat up, stretched, and looked over the edge down at the screen as I was working and mousing around. He froze, eased into that "I'm gonna pounce" crouch, and then, in a blur, his front paw whipped down and smacked the screen right on top of the moving arrow cursor. He lifted the paw to his face, and looked for a beat, then, clearly befuddled at the absence of dead prey on his paw, looked back at the screen, then back at his paw. I almost died laughing!
