Hmmm. My installed CS3 beta opens on my Mac Book Pro Core 2 Duo (2.16 Ghz) in about 4.5 seconds (after initial launch). I was blown away. My CS2 P-shop opens in about 20 seconds. Are MacWorld's launch times correct? Could the Core 2 Duo be that much faster than the Core Duo? What gives?

If just for the startup time I am amazed! BlacBook took almost a minute to open PShop CS2; CS3? 5 seconds! Holy Guadal Canal! Also, openng up older PSD files similarly faster. The interface is sweet and very customizable. I need to try out more filters but it looks like a major winner, at least for me. Very, very happy.

Wow. Adobe is so generous. No serial number if you "only" have Photoshop CS2. And without a serial number, you get a whole two-day trial of a BETA release.

I get the impression that some people having serial number problems are trying to enter their CS2 serial number in CS3, expecting the application to generate the new number. I know I did. Then I want back to the download page and read a little further and noticed the link to the page which did generate a CS3 number for me, using my CS2 academic version serial number. I copied the number off the web page and pasted it into the Photoshop CS3 beta and it worked fine.
As others have suggested here, I suspect the problem some people are having is because they never bothered to register their CS2 app(s). You can hardly blame Adobe in that case.

Does anybody have the same problem i have.
Brushes are NOT visible,i mean you can only see a dot and not actually something to have an idea of the size of the brush i chose.
This way is difficult to use.Let's say impossible.

They haven't publicly said anything about a Universal version of elements. I would assume that the next major release will be Universal, but I haven't heard anything about that schedule -- didn't 4.0 some out relatively recently?

With brushes invisible is useless for me,i can't believe that such an important feature was not fixed....or maybe was done in purpose.
Well i'll uninstall cs3,just a waste of memory this way.

No real comments on what CS3 does on non-intel Macs, and if there is any improvement in speed or other benefits...
I'm finding Bridge is kind of a zoo when I try to get Abobe and former Macromedia apps [Dreamweaver] to work together and acknowledge one another. I was hoping the next release of the suite would include a replaced GoLive with DW, Imageready with Fireworks, and an update to Acro 8.
