ok, i love the idea of a media hub from apple, but there's no co-ax connection. i mean, you should be able to record and watch live TV (cable or sat). i'm thinking a produce like MythTV or Freevo would be a definite hit. just buy a tv-out card for a PC and pc owners have their own media hub.

I hate to say it man.... but I think Bill Gates won the keynote battles this year...
appleTV - WHY buy an AppleTV for $300 when I can go and get a Xbox 360 for the same price that does the exact same stuff? And it plays games...
Steve was not wearing traditional black..... what sux is it seems they have put the mac on the back burner when it has the best chance of taking over.

They weren't pimping the mighty mouse, they were talking about how they were the first computer to bring the mouse to the general public. As in, having a mouse at all.

FWIW, here's Microsoft's attempt to piss on the iPhone:
http://yahoo.reuters...p;from=business
Funny, as every manufacturer at CES is bragging about their products featuring convergence, and then Apple comes along with a device that does it better than everyone else, and suddenly it's no longer a big deal (or people start whining about the device trying to do too many things). /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

As a Cingular customer, I suggest you be careful what you wish for. Many of us would accompany the phrase "where Cingular does not exist" with double-happy-faces /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif !

1. Apple is going to have a "Special Announcement" in the months ahead and announce additional products. Apple has the public's fascination now and they can draw up a "special event" at their whim. They don't need to announce everything at MacWord Expos.
2. iPhone uses Cingular because Verizon doesn't support unlocked phones. Cingular and I think T-Mobile are the only two US carriers that allow you to buy an unlocked phone and put it on their GSM-capable network. Verizon does not allow this. I'm with Verizon and I'm tired of their expensive data plans anyway. I've been mulling nabbing a Treo 700p - I'll just continue to use my VX9800 until the iPhone is available and then hello Cingular, goodbye Verizon. Easy choice for me. I use a Mac and want a smartphone/PDA that works flawlessly with my Mac.
I'm more excited about the iPhone than any new Macs they could have released. Jeez guys, my MacBook Pro isn't that old - the Intel Macs scream as it is. We didn't NEED brand new models right now.
The fact that Apple's stock has shot up is a pretty good indicator that Apple has impressed.
It's very disappointing jumping in here to hopefully get some intelligent conversation on Apple's announcements and have it ruined by some folks with ridiculous complaints and unrealistic expectations.
Some people will never be happy - even with one of the most innovative companies in the world.
That's pretty sad.

Nothing on macs? I miss the days when Apple was a company manufacturing tools for creative people, instead of being a toy shop. OK, times change and our macs still work. Next time then.
And, for a toy, iPhone looks very nice. Though it is big and clumsy as it stuffs every function imaginable into one shell. I would rather take credit card size clamshell phone, possibly with mp3-player... but keep the looks and style please.

i think he was probably referring more to the fact that they invented the mouse itself...

I'm glad AppleTV and iPhone were announced and described, but I really wanted to hear more about Leopard's super-secret features and release date.
I guess Jobs can always hold a surprise keynote in a month or two.
Also, I really don't like Cingular and now I'll half go back to them.

I agree that Jobs should have talked more about Macs and the Mac OS. Couldn't Apple have waited to introduce the iPhone at one of their Apple Special Events like they did with new iPods? Is Macworld Expo going to be called Appleworld Expo from now on?
