One feature I would like to see on the iPhone is GPS integration. Whether alone, or in partnership with a company like Garmin, I think it would be a great enhancement to have the iPhone available as a real time positional navigation aid. Seems like a natural, although not without technological challeges such as maintaining the form factor, weight and battery life. However, these are the challenges that Apple Inc. was built for.

I happen to live in an area where Cingular coverage is great so no complaints from me.
I had been a foul mood for a couple months because no one has had the product I wanted.
I travel quite a bit and most of the time don't need a laptop for any purpose other than surfing the web in downtime and usually don't even mess with taking it unless I'm on the road for more than one night. But I do carry an iPod and a Sonic Impact iFusion speaker system to recharge my iPod and then use the iPod as my travel alarm. Of course I've got a cell phone on my hip all times and use it check email though it is horrible for that because its all numeric keypad entry.
I've been looking at Blackberries, the Treo phones, and the Blackjack but all are lacking in some degree. Either they won't sync easily with a Mac, or can't handle Wifi so no surfing except on the cell network, etc, etc.
The iPhone comes closer to everything I've been looking for than any other product. Right now it apparently won't off the shelf handle Word or Excel files but built on the OSX platform I suspect that is fixed soon. If it can do that and print via Wifi and create pdf files it will totally cover EVERYTHING on my wish list.

As I pondered iPhone, I had the realization that I was really looking at a tablet mac. Imagine taking the iPhone and enlarging it to the size of a macbook or macbookpro. You could push a button, set it down near and wirelessly connect to a apple cinema display and have a parts free keyboard. who needs a mouse? use your finger. I was seeing a new iPhoto app...... My, my I just feel all these patents will appear in future products. The touch screen iMac?
Those apple folks really are amazing, nice job Steve and company. Really, nice job!

Some in the Mac World are grousing about Cingular issues, GB storage and $500 price tags for the first iPhone, et al. Take a deep breath folks and for 1 minute think outside of the (MacPower) box. The Multi-Touch technology demonstrated in the Keynote address will be at the core of everything we all want and much, much more. It's like nothing we've ever seen in mass market computer technology. See the blog "Hush Tactics for the iPhone" by David Pogue in the New York times at this link
web page

and especially watch the Jeff Han video referenced by David in this link

web page.
After you put your socks back on , also read the comments on this Pogue blog especially those written by me under the pseudonym "Sugar Ray". Since it appears that Apple,Inc is well protected patent-wise on the Multi-Touch technology, you ain't seen nothing yet when it comes to what the company will bring to the computer and other personal devices. Enjoy the ride. And buy stock, lots of it. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
