I'm trying to get a short simple flash movie to work in iWeb.
I've tried using iWeb Enhancer and iWeb More (both of which say to create a box, add html code along with the html prefix and suffix specific for each application, and then run the site through their correcting programs) but neither worked. I also tried adding a flash movie and was then going to edit the html so that it resourced the right file and plugin but iWeb would not publish the flash movie to the folder. I even tried another method by creating a folder in the published site folder containing the .fla, .swf, and .html flash files and referencing to the flash folder and .html file in the html code of the page. No go.
I'm am not an html code-warrior but can cut and paste like the best of them. I would like to make this work and since there are two programs out there that porport to do this, I assume it's possible. Could someone who has successful incorporated flash in an iWeb (non .mac) site please instruct me as to what you did? Thanks

Flash in iWeb

The Apple app (iWeb) will only write page code that calls the QuickTime browser plug-in to "play" those files. All fine and good if your files are already in a QuickTime format but bad if you need to use another browser plug-in be used to display them.
Rule number one about Flash and QuickTime.
QuickTime can only display Flash media "published" as Flash 5, or lower. If you can publish as version 5 you can use the built in templates found in iWeb and QuickTime browser plug-in can display the file.
Rule number two:
When you can't use QuickTime supported file formats in iWeb templates you'll need to modify the html file (and maybe the .js files, too) after you publish the page.
TextEdit (any plain text editor) can view the html page code and edit its contents.

Thanks for responding. I tried to do just that. I created a text box on the page with a word like 'smelly' in it and then did a find and replace in the .html page, inserting html code for locating my flash movie (this was in a separate folder in the parent directory) What showed up after this edit was the html code that I inserted not the flash movie.
My flash movies were in version 8 so I'll try it again but save it as a flash 5.

I've recently put together 3 sites about iWeb.
Each one will explain the method of getting the SWF to play depending on the media type.
