Hi!

Anyone tried the new scrollwheel on the new 10/20 iPod?

If so, was it better than the 'old' one - just as accurate and easy to control?

- and the case and the remote control - how are they? Worth the extra bucks?

The case and remote come free with the new iPods. If you own an older iPod, you can get the case + remote for ~$40.

I'm interested as well. Anyone? Also, are the earphones a noticeable improvement? I heard that they old iPod earphones were too large.

solid state wheel works just fine, but since it no longer needs to be a wheel, i can't figure out why they kept that shape. a touch pad and buttons in another configuration would have worked great. the new headphone are also good. smaller and better.

It works fine -- in fact, if you didn't know it didn't spin, you might not even notice that it was different. It feels just like the physical spinning wheel does. Well, not just like, but very very close.

I assume they didn't change the shape because they didn't want to redesign a product that works pretty well as is...

I don't know about anyone else, but wouldn't you say there's something, oh - I don't know - a bit sexual about the way the iPod wheel functions?

Or do I just have a dirty mind?

For those of you who asked, they changed to a solid state wheel because it helped make the iPod thinner--esp. the 20gig model. They apparently would have had to make the 20gig model a lot thicker than previous units w/o it.

Also if anyone has tried the new heaphones please speak now!!

It's pretty weird because if you use more than one finger you can spped it up but it still works very well, with the trackpad feel you have to lightly slide along the wheel.

I just got the 20gb. Heres my 2:

The case- very good construction. I like it soo much that I probably won't get another case for it.

The Head Phones- They sound great. I have alwas hated those kind of "in ear" head phones because of comfortability and sound, but I really like these ones.

The Remote- I wish that it had one of those cool LCD screen's with backlighting, like my old MD. It would be nice to be able to see the track names from the remote, but this remote is cool looking and small- and it does work, contrary to popular belief.

I think that the extra money is worth it. images/icons/grin.gif I really like everything about mine. Good luck choosing,

-Phil

opps, I almost forgot- the new track pad works great. I have to agree that the less moving parts there are, the less there is to break.
