DiskWarrior is great. Version 4.0 seems so stable that not even 4.01 has been required after almost two months of release!

DiskWarrior is the essential Mac utility. I've used every version of DiskWarrior 1,000's of times to fix and maintain hard drives. It has never failed. It has recovered drives that appeared to unrecoverable. There is no Mac application that I recommend more highly.
I've used DiskWarrior 4 from the day it became available. It has performed flawlessly. It is substantially faster and appears to find a few more directory issues.

Drive Genius has repaired disks that Disk Warrior cannot fix. And it's also a lot faster.
On top of that it also has a lot of other cool features including the ability to join partitions without the need for reformatting.

Is there a nice application to compliment Disk Warrior that does disk defragmentation?

I am interested to see a head-to-head comparison between the current version of DG and DW. I have never had a problem with DW, but if DG offers the same capabilities of DW plus disk defrag, I may make the switch, because I really need a rock-solid defrag utility.

Drive Genius can defragment.

However, these days defragging isn't so necessary, as drives are larger, and when files are changed they are less likely to have changes appended, but instead have new files created from scratch in a free area of the drive.
Also 10.3 and up automatically defragment files under 20MB.

There are two really important aspects for this DW release:
1. It's Intel-compatible (verified on my MacBook Pro :-)
2. It'll run on Mac OS X (software) RAID volumes. This was a huge problem with the 3.0.x. On both my G4/933 and G5/2dp, I'm running multiple RAID Mirrored volumes. (Each box has 4 drives, RAID Mirrored Paired). DW 3.0.3 wouldn't even start properly on those machines.
(If you have a desktop and haven't considered RAID Mirrored, it's really worth thinking about. The only problem is that you have to back up your existing volume to RAID Mirror it with another.)
I'm -super happy- with this, and glad to be able to use DW on all my machines again.

If you are going to set up a RAID mirror to run your Mac from I would highly recommend using SOFTRaid rather than Apple's Disk Utility to set it up as it's a lot more reliable and flexible.
