This World of Warcraft expansion pack offers a wealth of new content and new capabilities for this venerable massively multiplayer online game. It's definitely worth the upgrade for veteran players and newcomers alike. [more]

Blizzard has done a very good job with the Mac side of things. The DirectX/OpenGL back and forth has to be a pain.

I thought I'd mention that you aren't even able to pass through the Dark Portal until you're level 58. The article seems to imply that a player could pass through whenever they so chose, regardless of level.
Also, several missions or special circumstances do allow for you to drop bomb from flying mounts. For instance, the PvP objective in the Nagrand zone has players fly mounts and drop bombs on a city that changes hands between the two factions. There are also missions that involve flying mounts over demon camps and the like while dropping bombs on certain points of interest. Granted, all of those situations call for the player to ride a non-purchased flying mount, but nevertheless, they are indeed dropping bombs from flying mounts.
Besides acting as a mere status symbol, flying mounts also allow access to certain content that is otherwise inaccessible, and the epic flying mounts are significantly faster than any other mounts currently in the game.

You can still go to Outland at any level, provided you know someone who happens to be there that can summon you.

This is slated for a fix in the next patch or two.

I don't play games very much at all, but I tried this out on my Core Duo Mac Mini this past December and have been hooked since then. I am very impressed with how well this game plays on the Mac Mini using the default settings! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Can't wait to try it out on a new high-end mac when the eight-core Macs debut :P

My son (21) loves this game.
Just curious Peter, would that Cider software help with the DirectX issue on the Mac side?

Blizzard screwed the pooch on this one. The reason is the drop rate in Outland is much, much, much better than in Azeroth and what is happening is these amazing magical items from Outland are trickling down to lower level characters in Azeroth and the balance is now screwed up, permanently. It's great for the people who are getting gifts from their own higher level characters or friends' characters, but it sucks for everyone else.
So you go to a battle ground and get your ass kicked by some guy with an amazing sword whose friend gave it to him.
But if you don't do any PVP, it doesn't matter.
