What a crock! This woman must be kidding! The only direct reference to the novel is in the tag line. Is it now illegal to even mention the name of a copyrighted work? Ridiculous! Apple's commercial, on the other hand (the creative work of Ridley Scott) has been grossly and shamelessly plagiarized.

I noticed. For one thing, I was glad her sledge hammer didn't catch the earphones wire, which is why I always tuck mine in under my shirt. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I seem to recall reading somewhere that Apple actually ran the commercial twice: first, during the Super Bowl, then again in a small media market, such as Omaha or Wichita, in the wee hours of the morning, so the commerical would qualify for the Cleos.
I could be wrong. After all, they say memory is the second thing to go...

Sorry to get pedantic, but satire 1984 most definitely was not. It was a cautionary tale on the dangers of totalitarianism. The Animal Farm, on the other hand, was definitely satire, aimed in the same general direction.
"Four legs good! Two legs bad!"
A credo I live by, at least where preparing supper is concerned. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Back about 23 years ago, Gina's company sent a C&D letter to the Western World asking us no to use the term 1984 when referring to the year. The letter obviously worked; as of Dec. 31, 1984, we have not used 1984 to designate the current year.
Well, maybe not, but it's as believable as what she's saying here. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You got it wackbirds. It aired in really late 1983 late at night in a tiny market to gain eligibility.
Not mentioned yet is that even though Apple didn't run it again for over 20 years (and then in a modified form) they did distribute it to developers on some of the developer media and it has, of course, been the last clip shown on every TV show about "the world's greatest commercials" for more than a decade.

Exactly and what was the point of doing this? If the guy had bothered to compare voting records, he would have seen Hillarys is far superior to Obamas. He should be producing garbage like that for the neocons where it would fit right in. Too bad he couldnt figure out that Obama is another version of Eugene McCarthy and isnt going anywhere with his campaign.
