Actually rather than deleting the Podcast track you can also just hide it and achieve the same goal. Do this by simply going to the Track menu and choosing 'Hide Podcast Track' (ShiftAppleB). Then do your Share-->'Send Podcast to iTunes' and GarageBand will generate an AIFF file. This is nice if, like me, you do an Enhanced Podcast, but also deliver an MP3 version. I can do my AAC as ussual, then hide the podcast track and export a high quality AIFF to use for my final mixdown to MP3. I could mixdown the AAC to MP3, but I don't want the compression on top of compression. The added benefit is I can still keep my chapters and AAC info in my GarageBand project. Anyway hope this info helps.

So five years after you wrote this, I can report that it's STILL a lifesaver. Thanks, Christopher!
