Looking for an inexpensive paiting app? ArtRage2 is a “real media” paint program that packs a punch on the cheap. [more]

hmmm... Corel Painter gotta be better than this... but ArtRage looks pretty good. Have to test how well the media tools behave with a tablet. BTW, full version supports PSD-files and limited version is free.

I should hope so for >$400 /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif As Chris noted in the intro, ArtRage is filling the space for inexpensive paint/art apps.

I love my MacBook Pro, but applications like this demonstrate why Apple needs to release a tablet. Art Rage is great fun with my Wacom digitizer on the Mac, but on a tablet (even a lousy tablet like my Gateway convertible) it's a completely different experience! The only way to get a similar experience on the Mac right now is to buy one of Wacom's ridiculously overpriced digitizing displays. Come on Apple, you can do it! Please?

Great to see this review. Art Rage is about the best software application deal on the planet. Mr. Steve should include it in the OS. It really is the kind of application mac users came to love with the early painting programs. This is really a great program and has the feel of using real artist mediums and at a shareware price for an amazingly full featured application is a great deal. Go for the paid version you will not be sorry, just the addition of layers and extra tools is well worth it. One thing that is really impressive is how the creators, Ambient Design remain supportive of mac users and release versions for mac simultaneously and give friendly and helpful support to mac users on their web site forum.

I couldn't agree more with gzairborne about how great ArtRage is. I have been painting for 60 years and this program is a great new experience for me. I would recommend it highly. The best twenty some dollars I've ever spent!
