Macworld Forums: Split MP3 Files from .cue (Universal Binary) - Macworld Forums

Every week I download a new radio episode of "A State of Trance" by Armin van Buuren. This is basically a two-hour long mix consisting of twenty songs, all of which are defined with a .cue file. I want to be able to split this one large MP3 into a bunch of smaller ones seperated by track.
A lot of you might mention a program called "cue-splitter" located at http://www.gritsch-soft.com/ to do this job. Well, it does exactly what I want it to do, except it is NOT a universal binary app (and is actually quite old and out-dated). It still runs, but the timing for splitting the tracks is always off and occasionally there are "blips" and "blops" in between song transitions. When I drag these into iTunes, the gapless playback just doesn't sound like it should.
Is there ANY other program that can split MP3 files other than cue-splitter. Heck, I'd even be happy if there's no GUI (just command-line). Right now the only way I can get these MP3 files cleanly split is to boot up Windows and use a program on there.

I'm in exactly the same boat... except I'm trying to split some DJ Tiesto Club Nouveau files /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
At the moment I'm using a Windows PC to do it.

You have probably figured this out. So, I thought I would respond for whomever runs into this problem again.

The best Universal Binary splitter out there is MP3 Trimmer deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/.

You open your long .mp3 containing multiple songs into the client. You then choose Tools>Auto-Trim from the menu. This opens a drawer along the bottom. Here's where it gets tricky. Rather than press "Load" to get your .cue sheet, you drag-and-drop it into the drawer from the Finder folder. You will see a list of all the separate tracks in the window. Make sure you've chosen "Save as Separate Files" on the left. Then press the "Auto-Trim" button on the right. You will then be prompted for a save folder.

Voila!

Sounds convoluted, I know. But, really it isn't. I just wanted to be as concise as possible. Besides, the whole process I've just described can be done utilizing the drag-and-drop method.

Also, if you select one of the tracks from the drawer window, the ID3 info is displayed to the right. Handy, if you're into that kinda thing, which I am.

Oh, I almost forgot. It comes in a demo version with a delay before each function. Or, for like, USD 11.00, you can buy it. Beats the headache that is CueSplitter. Plus, now you know what to do with all those lengthy .mp3 files.

I use cue-splitter and find it only works some times. I am currently looking for another more stable program that will work. I checked my cue files and they are correct and the mp3 file is good.
