I have an 800MHz G4 with Tiger and recently got it used (excellent condition) from a family member. I've tried burning CD-Rs (MP3s from iTunes) and always get a "medium write error" when the CD-R is about halfway copied. I've used Maxell and Philips CD-Rs but no dice, I cannot burn a CD. Any ideas/solutions?

-Hi,
Does your Mac have any problems playing CDs? How much RAM? Might try burning at a slower speed. The Maxell CD-Rs have been fine at this end. Never tried Phillips. Try one song then check if its even burning properly for testing on a different player besides your Mac.

Hi
I use Memorex with little hassle.
Definitely try a slower burn speed -- even 1x, if offered. How much memory ( RAM ) do you have?
My PowerBook G4 Ti did the same thing -- all other medium was fine -- and in the end Apple replaced the SuperDrive under warranty.
