Have just upgraded from a powerbook, and need one windows world app: a remote viewer for xrays at our hospital. Was using VirtualPC. Can I install the version of Windows(XP Pro) from the Virtual PC installer and run it in boot camp, or do I gotta send more money to Richmond? thx

Hi
Micro$oft is located in Redmond, WA. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Anywho...
I haven't used a copy of VPC with Windows included but as long as you have a method to install ( CD, ... ) and the Windows Product Key, you should be fine.

Ah yes Redmond...touche
Unfortunately my install process gets stalled at the "Insert a Windows Install Disc" phase of the boot camp install process...Boot Camp doesn't recognize the VirtualPC install disc. One can find the OS on the second install disc as one large .zip file, which I can unzip to a .vhd file, but alas, no way to get that file to open or install
looks like I will have to send more $ to Rich...I mean Redmond

NoI don't believe you can use the VPC windows disc. The license code won't let you and if memory serves me correctly the windows disc is not a typical windows install disc but rather a VPC image file. Microsoft has made it pretty clear that users of VPC will need to purchase a new license of XP.
Check out newegg you can buy an OEM version of XP pretty cheap there.

You have to use an XP SP2 Home or Professional disc. No upgrades, special disks, or multiple version discs (like from the MS Dev. Network). Won't work, I tried it 100 times myself, even after reading the explicit Bootcamp instructions.
