Actually, I have already used Apple's remote with Keynote without any additional software and without any problems.
I suppose that it didn't work for PowerPoint, but I haven't tried.

Another case of a developer failing to produce a UB version of its software /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Personally, I wouldn't bother with it, when for 20 Euros you can have a MUCH richer remote experience. My colleague bought RemoteBuddylast week and it's capable of a lot more. It's a kernel level patch and the remote functions even works in WinXP running on Parallels. Pretty sweet. My old G4 PowerBook doesn't have a remote or I'd get RemoteBuddy too.

I use iRed Lite which is free and does more than PocketMac Remote. I especially like the button hold functions to get more mileage from the Apple Remote's limited set of buttons (which I otherwise like, no need for dozens of buttons, thank you).

In that case there must be a mistake in the article: "PocketMac Remopte requires an Intel-based Mac, an Apple Remote, 4MB hard disk space, Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger and Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote."

That's because the only Macs that support the Apple Remote -- that have the requisite infrared sensor -- are Intel Macs.

D'oh. You're completely right -- my obvious mistake!

No problem, Dan - it's very rare that I catch any of the Macworld staff out /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
