I have G4 1.25 OS 10.2.8 and once in a while when I try to wake it from sleep, I could hear the fan turning on indicating it is waking up but the screen would stay blank and there is nothing I could do about it except to press the power switch to force it to turn off and turn it on again. Could I have a corrupt file, OS problem or could it be because of the firewire/USB2 card that was installed? Thanks for the help.

Screen blank when waking Mac from sleep

Is the screen completely blank? Or do you see a spinning cursor?
I had a similar problem, but I could see a spinning cursor that would never go away. I futzed with the power/sleep settings and that seemed to deal with the issue (basically had it so that only the monitor went to sleep not the hard drive).

I experience a similar problem and don't know if something is wrong with my computer or not. It just started happening and I have had my MacBook Pro (Leopard) for almost a year.
When I put my computer to sleep and later lift the computer cover (open it) and the screen remains black with no cursor or spinning wheel, as others have posted. You hear that it is waking up but do not see anything on the screen itself which remains black. No matter what keys I press I still cannot see the screen and must restart the computer by pressing the power key. Touching the keypad or any of the keys or even a remote mouse does not activate the screen. This problem does not occur when I put the computer to sleep but do not close the computer, or when it puts itself to sleep and the computer remains open.
I, as well, would appreciate any help with this.
