Dismayed by the iPhone's unwillingness to let you customize your ringtones? Don't be -- third-party applications exist that add this missing capability. Jim Dalrymple walks you through how to do it with an app called iFuntastic. more

i tried setting up an account the other day with modmyiphone.com but was never receiving the email i needed to activate the account. i kept logging into the site and requesting a new activation email.... the email address is my .mac address and i have no spam filter set on it. then i started to wonder if apple was blocking email sent from modmyiphone.com to .mac accounts. so i changed my email address and requested another activation email and 30 seconds later i got it.
so is it possible that apple is blocking email from an iphone mod site to .mac addresses? the .mac email works with everything else and just not modmyiphone.com

I had thought about doing this using the CLI, but this worked like a charm.
My only problem now, is I want to set the Ring-tone directory to another location, and I can't seem to see how. Any ideas?

Can you delete these added ringtones later?

Ringtone restrictions (to ones you buy from your cellphone provider and their thugs) are nothing short of criminal trade restriction and collusion between providers -- that even Apple was steamrolled into accepting this practice is very, very sad. Thank god for the hacks, but there should be no need for them in the first place.
Hopefully some visionary lawmakers will eventually put an end to this absurd practice, but I'm not going to hold my breath...

I wish this were available for a non-Intel Mac.
As for Apple censoring iPhone mod stuff....yesterday morning there was a post on the iPhone forums regarding this, and it disappeared by early afternoon. So yes, they are trying to block this avenue. Fascists!
