i've seen similar questions but haven't yet found the answer to my problem.
I have cable internet to cable modem, ethernet cable from modem to (new) airport extreme, ethernet cable back from airport extreme to PC (hope that makes sense). PC (with no wireless card) connects to internet just fine, (new) MacBook Pro connects wirelessly just fine.
How can i get the MacBook to network with the PC? It seems that with the ethernet cable going from AE to the PC, the mac should be able to "see" the pc.
This is mostly to share the printer, since i've already transferred most of the files that i want from the pc to the mac via the pc's external hard drive. Once the mac sees the pc, I assume the printer would need to be plugged into the usb port on AE
thanks for any help

Hi
Go through the Airport Extreme setup utility if you haven't already.
Turn File / Printer Sharing on in Windows XP by going to Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->Communication-->Network Setup Wizard.
I don't know if you care to go both ways with transferring but I feel it is much easier to go from Mac and connect to the 'PC'. You can by browsing Network ( by default in the Finder windows sidebar ). If you want to connect from 'PC' to Mac OS you'll need to enable Windows Sharing under System Preferences-->Sharing.
To share the printer using the Airport Extreme. Under Mac OS X, use Printer Setup Utility ( /Applications/Utilities ) and it should show up as connected via Bonjour when you choose Add. On the 'PCs', install Bonjour for Windows -- A version is also included on the Airport Extreme software CD -- and use the Bonjour Printer Wizard.

thanks so much
I did as you said and the Mac now has no problem networking with the PC - I can see all my files there.
However, I can't print with either machine now! I repeated your directions twice, AE setup utility says it's ready to go and share a USB printer, turned on file/printer sharing and installed and used the Bonjour Printer Wizard on the PC - the "print online" is selected in the printer preferences, it shows up in the Mac print utility as connected via Bonjour when I select "add", double checked that the printer is working by reconnecting it directly to the PC....don't know how to double check anything else and don't know how to proceed from here.
Any suggestions?
