So in the last few days I have noticed something new on my iPhone...
Did AT&T 'solve' the iPhone/MMS issue by sending you a message saying that you can log into viewmymessage.com to view the picture? I don't know if this is something new to the iPhone or new to my mother-in-law.
My problem with it is two things... 1. you can't click on the link to the site. 2. I have to have a second iPhone to type into notes the username/password to remember it when you go to Safari on my first iPhone.

I receive that also. It doesn't matter who sends it, or from what carrier. That's the message you get when the phone you use doesn't support MMS. I get that from my wife who is also on AT&T wireless, if she sends me a picture from her phone.

The fun part is... the site is blocked from the EDGE network, so.. if you're out and about and using EDGE as opposed to wifi. You can't check the message.

I am able to get to it via EDGE without any problems. It is a phisher-friendly site though. Be sure to type it in as you see it. Very easy to add an "s" to the end of it, i.e. viewmymessages.com. If you don't type in the www, it will redirect you to www.viewmymessage.com. I suggest you go there on your iPhone and bookmark it.

Are you sure you're on edge? I've tried it many times including right now. The bar goes to the H while in verticle mode, and then it won't go any farther. I get a message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding. If I go back into settings and turn wifi back on... It goes straight through.
And even more... Once having the page loaded over wifi, I just went back into settings turned off wifi. Went back into safari hit reload... Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding.

I'm sure I'm on EDGE. I don't even turn WiFi on unless I happen to be at a hotel and use their wireless. Barring that, It's always turned off and using EDGE. I get to it every time.
Plus the site belongs to AT&T. Why wouldn't they allow you to access it?

Now -that- is weird. I can't think of a reason why you can connect from EDGE, but I can't.
The reason they wouldn't allow you to connect would be the simple reason of money. iPhone users aren't the only ones who use their edge network. If you can use edge to download mms messages, why would you pay extra to be able to receive mms?

edit:
Ha.. just as bad.. I turned off wifi went to google.com/m searched for viewmymessage.com .. clicked on the link, it loaded through the proxy. Clicking on view in html which just redirects you to the website... "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding."
Second edit:
Sadly, the formating won't show the image from the mms I was sent. Bah

My wife sent me an MMS message. I received the standard "you've been sent an mmms message" along with a link and my password and login. She has sent several of these to me over the last couple weeks. Every time I go to view it, either on the iPhone or my Mac, I log in with the appropriate username and password, and they all say an error occured and cannot display. Strange.

The page is a pain some times.. It'll take 3-4 tries of entering the info for it to work. Conclusion: AT&T sucks :P

AT&T is no worse than Verizon, Team Mobile or Sprint. They're all pretty much evil corporate giants.

As I said before one of my main problems is the freaking login they give you, seriously does it need to be that secure? couldn't they do something with your phone number and then you would choose a password thenn you could actually remember it to login?

The difference between at&t and t-mobile is this.. in my area.. i never had once a dropped call. I never once been sitting on a bench somewhere with full reception.. and then lose all bars... just to get full reception a minute later without leaving the bench.. Actually I never had any trouble whatsoever... Now I'm in a 2 year contract with a company who goes out of it's way to point out they don't have many dropped calls when I'm dropping them all the time. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif ... but this is getting sidetracked /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

No problems with EDGE or ATT here. Guess it just depends where you are.
