Hi all,
A few tips I've figured out from trial and error, for anyone else who finds Yahoo's e-mail service isn't working to expectations.
First, be sure NOT to use their new Mail Beta version, but the old Classic Mail service. The Beta service just didn't work reliably for me.
Most importantly, my iPhone didn't like it when I had Yahoo's junk mail filters set to forward contents from the suspected junk mail folder (i.e. labelled as "bulk mail"). What would inevitably happen is Yahoo's service would send me messages, but any spam would hang up the service, and I'd get no mail coming thru. I disabled the feature, and will manually check and delete folder contents from the Web, if desired.

Despite their recommendations to use other settings, I've had better luck using the following settings:
Incoming Mail Server
Host Name: pop.mail.yahoo.com
User Name: e-mail address (minus the @ yahoo.com part)
Password: self-explanatory
Outgoing Mail Server
Host Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com:25
User Name: e-mail address ((minus the @ yahoo.com part)
Password: self-explanatory
Advanced:
Incoming uses SSL: On
Outgoing uses SSL: On
Authentication: Password
They want you to use ports 665 for Incoming, and 995 for Outgoing (I think it was), but I find the above settings work better for me, wiithout error messages.
Hope this helps!
