So I just got an Airport Extreme base station and set it up -- easy as pie, and it works great.
However...
I keep hearing that any client on the network using G speeds will slow everything down. My Tivo uses a G connection, and I assume the iPhone does too. How can I make sure my iMac and MacBook Pro keep getting N speeds? I have an Airport Express and a D-Link G-capable router on hand, if that helps.
Thanks,

If you want to maintain the best possible speed, this is what you do:
1) Put the Airport Extreme Base Station in 5 GHz mode. This will make it unreachable by the 802.11b/g clients helping maintain speed and also avoid the interference that's common on th 2.4 GHz spectrum.
2) Attach the Airport Express and put it in "Bridge mode". Basically, this makes everything that connects to it on the same network as anything connected to the Airport Extreme Base Station.
Your iMac and MacBook Pro should connect to the Extreme and everything else to the Express. Make sure they have different SSIDs (wireless network names). That should keep everything running at top speed.
