Hi There,
I am starting to use a mac more at work, and am wondering if it is possible to use a usb flash drive to back up a data file if it is connected to an airport express?
The airport disk utility doesn't recognize it. Thanks!

You might need to clarify some...
Are you connecting the USB flash drive to the Airport Express and want to backup files from the computer to the USB drive through the Airport Express?
If so, I don't believe that Airport Express supports attaching an external drive to use as a network drive. I believe only the Airport Extreme will do that.
And if so, why not just connect the flash drive to the Mac directly?

I'd run out of usb ports on the back of the computer and was playing around with a few different options with the express, but the airport extreme with a usb hard-drive looks like the easiest option. Thanks for the info!

You could get a USB hub to essentially "add" USB ports. It would likely want to be a powered USB hub especially if you are using things like flash drives for mice or keyboards or other bus power items. And it will likely be a LOT cheaper than an Airport Extreme (assuming that all you want is the ability to plug in your USB flash drive).
