A little bias, no? Believe me when I say I wanted the iPhone to be my excuse to leave Verizon and my 700p, but getting the iPhone would be a step back; and you guys know this! Your list of cons is longer than your list of pros (even with all the added adjectives (hence subjective)). It should be understood that if the list of cons is longer than the list of pros - 2.5 mice/stars is the highest rating a product should receive. And what's worse, is that your review blows the cons off like they're not a big deal. No 3G, but using the dial-up like EDGE network is a big freakin' deal in 2007. Limited bluetooth support is a big deal too (look into Verizon's release of Motorola's V710 and the class action suit).
Your right about the phone being externally "beautiful" and "elegant", but if internally it lacks substance, explain to me how the iPhone differs from a Barbie doll?

Pros and cons are not necessarily equal -- some things are more important than others, and some have greater impact on use than others. You can't judge a product by how many pros and cons are listed.
More important, we didn't rate the iPhone based solely on laundry lists of "missing" features, or a few minutes playing around with one; we rated it based on how it actually performs in real-world use. I've written a good number of articles about the device's flaws, some of which irritate me daily; but after nearly seven weeks of use as my only phone -- wireless or wired -- I think Jason's rating is spot-on. Does it do everything I want it to? Not at all. But what it gets right it gets so right that I'd never go back to any of my older phones (which includes a number of highly-rated phones from other vendors).

Ditto what Dan said. As a long-time Palm/Treo user, I swore I'd never give up my Treo and the flexibility it offers. And while I'm somewhat frustrated by some iPhone issues, the truth is that the overall operation of this phone - net - email - iPod device simply crushes the Treo. The OS is just about perfect, it's super fast, the screen is gorgeous, and everything just works.

As Dan said, the pros and cons aren't of equal value. I suppose we could add exclamation points and stars to pros that are really exciting, but it might get tiresome.
The iPhone is a really good product. It could be better. But at this point I would not trade it for any other phone on the market.

I for one believe we should switch to a cheezburger based rating system.
