iphone upgrade?

I had a friend tell me that apple will be updating the speed of the iphones internet. has anyone heard anything about this? or about other upgrades that apple is going to do?

At some point, iPhones will probably go 3G. This will - in theory - make them faster.
But AT&T's network is, right now, the bottleneck ... not the 2.5G over-the-air standard in the EDGE network. So I think that 3G - if it comes out very soon - isn't going to make that big a difference.
Not right away, at least.
