Already? Really? A little early for this story, don't you think? I doubt Macworld reporters are camped out at Moscone Center overnight... /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't know about the MacWorld reporters, but I'm going to sit here hitting 'reload' every thirty seconds until some details come up!

Exciting, are they announcing the new iPod? What are they announcing more?

After the iPod and iTunes announcements, I predict Apple will throw a bone to the music makers by issuing a press release announcing Logic Pro 8!

Let's see how long we can make this line before the event even starts. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Biggest surprise: Leopard's Time Machine feature turns out to be a real time machine. It looks like a DeLoreon, but has full iPod integration.

I am most eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the new iTunes icon. What color music note will Steve give us with iTunes 8.0? Anodized aluminum or glossy black, to match the new iMacs, would be my guess....And with Steve's recent dissing of DVDs, can the removal of the CD image from the iTunes icon be far behind???

OK, I'm doing my part even though I have nothing substantive to say.

The timing is brilliant, unfortunately. Yet it does come down to numbers. If Amazon's Unboxed was so great, how come it hasn't been bigger than it is by now? iPods are just plain more popular. Add in a bevy of new iPods for the upcoming holiday season and it remains questionable why NBC would exclude the ITMS. Whaddya'll think? Jason/Peter?

Update: Well, folks, with just 3.5 hours until the event and this thread just over 12 hours long, we have about a dozen posts and no real news. Tune in later for more... posts!

I am predicting the new iPod will be an exact copy of the iPhone but without the phone, bigger hard drive storage and all the other cool stuff, internet, wifi, etc.

Probably because all of those rio's and zune users are uninterested in purchasing music online, if at all.
iPod/iTunes users have found out how easy it can be to get music legally; that it is easier than setting up limewire, searching for and filtering all of the crap and organizing their music.
one click and it is downloaded to the iPod. Very easy. When will the others learn. Apple provides an experience, everyone else provides a headache.
