I currently own a 30GB iPod, and it's generally half-full, but only due to my carefully managing what video and photos I choose to carry. Plus I use the Apple Camera Connector as well, so I like to have some free GB. I've put off buying an iPhone to wait and see if they would come out with higher capacities...a 16 GB model would be enough for me to buy.

I think Flash based storage is somewhere around 16x the price of HD storage. I think 32 GB in flash would have put the price closer/greater than 500.
