Now, if Apple just sold the theme song to "Good Eats" from the Food Network, I'd be buying a ringtone of it right now!

I remember when Loren Michaels offered the Beatles $4,000 to get back together.

To rate an album, make sure the Album Rating column is being displayed

Or if you are in Album View mode, you'll also find the new album rating feature beneath the album cover, title and artist.

OK... took the jump. Created 3 ringtones, synced the phone, and guess what... NONE of them could sync because it says I'm not authorized to play those particular songs on my computer. 1 of them came from my daughter's computer, which I gave her an allowance, but I'm also authorized to listen, and create the ringtone for some reason. On hold with Apple right now... really the first time I've hit bugs on something... I feel confident they'll figure it out, but if they don't, simple things like this could be trouble.

iTunes crashes on me every time I try to view a movie in the iTunes window.

OK, I have a question. When I buy a ringtone I pick a thirty-second song segment at the time of purchase. Am I stuck with that segment? Can I go back and pick another segment from the same song later without having to pay another 99 cents?

Sorry, I re-read the article and it answers my question in it. You have to pay again. Not sure how I feel about that. I was hoping that you could create a new one to replace the existing one.

OK, had to reconnect after the iTunes upgrade, then re-authorize the computers. Works fine now.

So, I don't find ringtones from songs to be that appealing. I noticed that the iTunes store has several sound effects albums.
Most Requested Sounds War & Combat Sounds Mystery & Terror Sounds
etc..
The funny part is that all of these sounds are DRM laden and none are available as ringtones. So what use are they? Maybe they'll be ringtone enabled as some future date.

The biggest problem I have is they don't do a perfect loop. If I just want a riff, or a few cords to repeat there is always going to be that 0.5 second break that ruins the whole ring-tone. They need to workout the loop.

The ringtone feature seems a bit buggy. I have an song that shows it is ringtone enabled in my music library browser but when I try to create a ringtone using that track I get an error:
Could not create ringtone. An unknown error occurred (-42160).
There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.

Clicking the store link, the track does not show that it is available as a ringtone at all. The track in question is iTunes Plus but disabling the iTunes Plus feature on my account doesn't change the track's status to ringtone enabled.
Looks like a bug.

They really need to let people be able to create ringtones from stuff they've made, say in GarageBand. Whether you've made something you thought would be a good ringtone with some Apple Loops, or you actually write music and perhaps even have a band, it's almost offensive you can't make an "official" ringtone from your own stuff.
I'm in the latter case, I have a band (just a hobby) and would like to make ringtones from songs we've written, perhaps different songs for when each member of the band calls. But for now, I'll have to use the Ambrosia thing.

How do I make a ringtones out of my own music I made in Garageband 4? Itunes keeps telling me I've got to go to the Apple Store /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif ! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
