Ive done some research on this and not coming up with much. Perhaps someone
here has run into it and worked out a solution.
I have a user with several AOL accounts. They would like to use Entourage
(from MS Office 2004) to manage those accounts. No problem setting Entourage
up to access the accounts, the problem is that because AOL requires IMAP
access, we only get to see what is on the server, the messages dont reside
locally. If you select and drag a message/group of messages manually you can
copy them to the local system, but Im wondering if there is a way to
automate that. Ive experimented a bit with rules and because AOL is IMAP
and doesnt download to the local drive, received messages bypass the rules.
Each AOL account is getting its own inbox, drafts, sent, etc. I would like
to be able to automatically have messages copied to the local system, so
that when AOL drops messages older than 30 days, they are already on the
local system, so no biggie. The AOL client software does copy the messages
off the server to the local drive, but it requires a sign out and sign in to
access the messages for each account and that is a bit of a pain at this
point.
We are well aware that a POP account would simplify all of this and may end
up going that way, but that will also mean new email addresses and we are
trying to avoid that, if we can.
Any suggestions?
