Garageband Help?

So I am trying to record Guitar/Vocals on Garageband with a real guitar and mic.
I have my guitar connected through This

And then to my computer with this
I connected the mixer and USB interface with RCA cables.
When I try to play I get no sound and it will say something about Core Audio. Can anyone help? Do I have the right equipment? Thanks in advance!
