I have just bought a second hand ibook g4, needless to say it has the former owners name. I was just wondering if there is any way I can delete his name and put my name as the computers owner. Running osx 10.4.10.
Thank you

Open System Preferences (Apple Menu >> System Preferences...), and click on the "Sharing" icon in the "Internet & Network" section. At the top of the "Sharing" pane is the text box where you can set your Mac's name.
Hope that helps! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you have purchased a used Mac the first thing you should do is wipe the hard drive and re-install the operating system; realistically the previous owner should have already taken these steps. By not doing so, you are leaving yourself open to any legacy problems that the previous owner had.
