Okay here is the scoop. I have a G3 iMac running 10.2.8 500MHz 512MB ram. First of all i noticed that when i turn the computer on, it goes to the silver apple screen like normal then just stays there. it will not progress to the loading splash screen. It just stays at the silver screen the entire time it loads. Next, i can't drag any items. Itunes finder, no where. The computer has began to become rediculously slow. I heard about Onyx from another forum. I downloaded it. Ran it. then all of my app icons turned to a folder. I can't open up jpgs or pdfs. I have to open previewer first. I can't select the app from get info or when I choose app when i open the file. I don't have any of the restore cds. so any help would be grealy appreciated
Thanks

This is a tough one to solve if you do not have the restore/installer disk.
The restore disk would allow you to boot up from that disk to repair the disk directory using Disk Utility from the restore disk or to re-install Mac OS X.
At this point you could try downloading and installing Mac OS X Update Combo 10.2.8
( http://www.apple.com...cosxupdatecombo[u]102_8.html ). You may be lucky enough to get your Mac working again.
You should consider purchasing the Mac OS X restore/install disks for Jaguar ( 10.2 ) or Panther ( 10.3 ).
You should also consider purchasing additional RAM.
Excuse me if you know all this stuff.
Hope this information helps.

I have the restore disk for a ibook but that don't help me. I will soon have a newer g5 imac with restore disk but that won't do me any good on this one. Don't know if I can program my drive in that one and put it in this one with 10.4. Don't konw about how apple does the software. I have ran different ibook harddrives and that has worked. but I just can't get rid of this imac. I want both running. I've thoguht about putting 10.3 in here but don't know about how much slower it would be. I'll download that and give it a try
Thanks,
