HELP! Mail needs a plist reset maybe?

Here's the deal:
I have a simple smart folder in mail that shows all flagged messages. Most of these are flagged when a rule passes through, though I flag some myself.
This folder is now my default "inbox". Messages come in, get ruled to their proper places and show up as flagged altogether in my smart folder.
The problem is that my smart folder claims to contain one message (in the white oval to the right of the label), but there is nothing there! I cannot seem to track this down, so it must be some thing gone wrong...
Should I delete some plist file or something? I've never done that but I've read enough to know some programs need something reset at time. Is this one of those times? If so, what should I be hunting down?
This is really bugging me! (No pun intended, sorry 'bout that...)

Ok, this is the bug. Apparently it is a bug and i don't know how to fix it.
If you have a message flagged and then delete it before removing the flag, mail thinks it is still flagged. Even when you delete and erase the trash - somehow that flag is still floating around there.
Any gurus feel up to the task of solving this?
