There has to be a way to do it. The API is there because we can use YouTube on your phone and the video format for YouTube is Adobe Flash. This should be a call to arms to the Hackers to enable that. I don't know but I don't think it should be hard since it is there in the YouTube.app.

The YouTube videos that play on the iPhone have been converted to MPEG4 in QuickTime, not Flash. If you compare YouTube on the phone to YouTube on Mac, you'll find a lot more content on the Mac. None of the Flash YouTube stuff will play on the iPhone.

To further clarify what Rob is saying, last June, YouTube began converting many of its videos to H.264 format. The YouTube application on the iPhone can view only those videos that have been converted by YouTube.

FLASH on the iPhone won't be available until Apple makes it so. of course, this has nothing to do with youtube on the iPhone which plays the video directly. I want flash too.

Perhaps this February when Apple allows developers to make third party applications for the iPhone something that enables flash on the iPhone will become available.

Go to www.iPod.videohamster.com.
Click the "how to" button.
ADD This page to your bookmarks.
Go edit your new bookmark, and delete the first of the URL, untill it starts with JavaScript and save this.
Now you should play flash videos ón the Internet.

That's what Adobe has to say about the subject:

"Flash Player not available for your device
Apple restricts use of technologies required by products like Flash Player. Until Apple eliminates these restrictions, Adobe cannot provide Flash Player for the iPhone or iPod Touch"

But I've been listening to some podcasts that say Apple is probably not interested in make flash player available for the iphone cause HTML 5 will do most the tricks flash does at the moment.

I guess we'll have to wait to see...

due to the slowly buffering speed, Jobs refused to embed the flash player to iPhone. so every time i convert flash swf and flv myself with iWisoft swf to video converter which can change swf to mp4 without any frame loss. maybe you can try.

Flash:

-- is mostly used for annoying ads.

-- is a battery and resource hog.

-- has notorious instability and insecurity issues.

-- is pretty.

So, looking at the plusses and minuses above, one doesn't need a degree in rocket science to see why Apple initially disallowed Flash on the iPhone. The reason its STILL not there could be:

a. Adobe hasn't been able to come up with a version of Flash that meets Apple's requirements.
b. Apple likes HTML5 better than Flash and is trying to force/speed adoption
c. AIR is the worst pos idea to come out of Adobe since they killed GoLive.

Take your pick.
Cheers
