Ok... this iMac newbie is stuck.
I finally got my iTunes Music Library moved to my new iMac. I have updated to OS X Leopard. Using iTunes 7.5 (19).
I chose a "song"/MP3 file in my Library, because I wanted to update the Album name field and Grouping. Files that I have not touched appear to be editable. However, once I save after editing one field, if I try to open via right click "get info" again, some of the tabs are grayed out, and I cannot place the cursor in any of the fields in order to edit. So, if I misspelled something, or change my mind about how I might want to categorize a grouping, I am not being allowed to re-edit the tags.
The first file I tried when I had the preferences checked to "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to Library"; when I look via Finder, it appears that the file I edited created a new folder corresponding to the new Album Name I gave the file.
The second file I tried after unchecking that 'copy files..." in preferences. Still the same effect.
I have tried to do the "convert ID3 tags" only to get a message about it can't be done because they might be the wrong type, or the songs might be write protected. I can't find where I have write protected anything... any hints here?
I also used the option to try the "Convert Selection to ACC" on one of the MP3 files. I now have two files for the same 'tune' (one mp3, one m4a), but still neither's info tags can be edited.
Further info: I have not yet hooked up my iPod to the new iMac, having finally gotten the iTunes library over just today. I'm wondering if something needs to by synced before iTunes will allow me to update the info?
Would request any help, if some of you experts have come across this.
Thanks, jhrose
