I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, If it's not, my apologies.
Is there a way to select which folders are synchronized using IMAP in Mail? I'm using IMAP to sync my school mail, however there's a folder called "Public Folders" with a bunch of sub-folders that I don't want to have synced. The problem is that right now there are 34,365 unread messages there, and I don't have read or write access to most of them.
Is there a way to "deselect" this folder?

Thanks!

There's no way I know of to tell the IMAP server or Mail which folders to NOT sync. I could be wrong though.

In Thunderbird, you can select which individual IMAP folders you wish to subscribe to or not. Unsubscribed folders are simply ignored by T-Bird and do not appear in your list of IMAP folders. Surely Mail has some similar feature?
