Hi Folks,
So, is there any way of linking an Address Book contact to an iCal event or to-do? I've recently moved from Entourage to the built-in Mac apps (a good move as far as I'm concerned) and I'd like to maintain that ability.
Thanks in advance!

Within the OS, and ilife apps, I do not know.
But, you might consider moving to Organizer. @ Chronosnet.com
A wonderful piece of software that does A LOT!
Check it out, they give the ole' 30 day free trial.
So too, does Bentos.
A new interface for our favorite database.
Go to versiontracker.com and download a free trial of the Beta.
Compare them, and hope that someone else has a simpler answer for you.
If not, one of these should fill the bill.
(Chronos software is backed by great people).

Hey Pete,
Thanks for your reply. I've checked out Bento and am in the process of demoing SOHO Organizer (though I'm having some problems getting it running...) Bento is pretty nice, but it too lacks direct linking of events, contacts & to-dos--you can get 'em all on one record, but it's nooooot quite what I'm looking for!
Cheers,
John

Keep us posted here John.
I downloaded Bentos, didn't open it yet.
I'll probably upgrade my organizer, I KNOW it can link contacts, to-do's, etc. Heck, you just type in English. "Lunch with Robert 12.30p on thursday, Bam! There it is, a new item in your calender! With, the contacts phone # etc.
What kind of trouble are you having with Organizer running? Chronosnet will help! Are you running Leopard? (I'm running an old version of Organizer on Leopard, and it's doing just fine.) Sometimes, it can get confused on which backup it chooses to open and run. It's a preference thing.
Be Well..

Hi Pete,
Yes, I'm running 10.5.1. I was able to finally successfully install and run SOHO Organizer. It took a couple of installs/uninstalls and restarts before OpenBase was happy. It looks like a pretty robust program that will even sync with my Palm TX.
One question that I have with Organizer: is it possible to reorder Tasks in the Task bar? I can't quite figure out what scheme it uses, as it's seemingly random now...
Cheers,
John

John,
Glad you got Organizer to work. As I said, I'm still using ver. 4.5 and it's happy on Leopard, but I will upgrade soon. Even in this older copy, there are So Many preferences! I'm sure you can find it in the help section, or just email the company. Dig a little deeper too, it's a very customizable piece of software!
(I can't imagine anything being just random in Organizer!)
Does that new one still have the "Translate" command? Calendar/translate. Or, on the button bar if you choose? That's a great feature!
Keep us updated on how you like it!
Good Luck!
