For Christmas this year my aunt decided to be really nice and order me a 2GB chip for my MacBook Pro, propping me up from 2GB total to 3GB. Anyway due to an issue with ordering online she now has two 2GB chips.
Now I've heard that the maximum my computer can handle is 3GB total but I've also heard it's a bit above that, 3.3GB or something. I was thinking it might be worth it for me to pay her the $50 she paid for the extra chip if, in fact, I can get a bit over 3GB as the more RAM the better.
My question to all those around the forum who know more than me is what is the absolute max usable RAM for my computer?
Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
Model Identifier: MacBookPro2,2
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz

Thanks for the clue-in guys! I ended up sending back the extra 2GB chip.
Besides, with the extra gig I got, my boot time is down to around 20 seconds so I think I'm good for now. In another year or two when my Apple Care is almost up I'll sell this one, this should cover me until then. Thanks for the advice!

What OS are you currently running? I know that OS X 10.4 is a 32-bit operating system and as such the system can only address roughly 3072Mb of ram, however on my Leopard installation I am capable of running 4Gb of RAM which the system has addressed, due to this is a 64-bit operating system and has a limit around 4056Mb I believe. Can anyone else reproduce these results?
