This is a great program. I bought the original version of Sound Edit at the first ever MacWorld back in 1985 (I think). Used that progam and all its upgrades for years and years until OSX when it didn't keep up. I tried Bias and several others, but Sound Studio is the closest to Sound Edit in price and ease of use... and is quite a bit more functional now. Love the program.

I would not agree with this assessment of Sound Studio 3 in comparison to SoundEdit Pro. I have found that Amadeus Pro comes closer than any other application to that beloved, and sorely missed application--and at HALF the price.
I will say, that neither offer the one thing that only SoundEdit Pro could do, the ability to color portions of waveform for future editing processes.

I agree--Amadeus Pro is a great app, and one that should have been included in the comparison.

There is no mention in the article of Applescriptability which this program has in large measure.

AFAIK the programs at or below it's price point have none.

Interestingly enough, I was wondering about SS4 (thought there was a 4th version) tonight as I've started digitizing my LPs through a USB-enabled phono pre-amp. I am glad I didn't try to purchase the latest version as it does not seem like it offers much more than v2. The marking feature sounds useful (especially for editing a continuous LP side into separate tracks), but not for $80.

If we disregard price for now, which do people think is better, Amadeus Pro or Sound Studio 3?

Long time ago I down loaded a trial version of Studio Sound 3, The trial expired and I would very much like to buy a license, the problem is thta My Mac is too old and the newer versión of Soun Studio does not run in my mac I have a Power Mac with the old G5 processors and my Mac OS is 10.5.8 Leopard. Is there a way to get or buy a Sound Studio 3 license for this operating system? (I can´t afford to buy a new Mac)
